Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 10, 2026

1. Introduction

FoodCop ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the FoodCop mobile application and related services.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials (or OAuth tokens if you sign in with Apple or Google). We store your chosen display preferences, coach personality selection, and fitness settings (weight, fitness goal, exercise location preference).

Food Photos

When you scan a meal, your photo is sent to our secure backend server for AI analysis. The image is processed in real time and is not stored permanently on our servers. Once analysis is complete, the image data is discarded. Only the analysis results (food name, estimated calories, food category) are saved to your meal history.

Meal History and Usage Data

We store your meal scan history, including food names, calorie estimates, exercise plans chosen, achievement progress, and streak data. This data is associated with your user account and is used to provide the app's core features.

Device Information

We may collect general device information such as device type, operating system version, and app version for the purpose of improving compatibility and diagnosing issues.

3. Health Data

FoodCop can optionally connect to Apple HealthKit (iOS) or Google Health Connect (Android) to read your step count, active calories burned, and active minutes. This health data is:

  • Read-only — FoodCop does not write any data to HealthKit or Health Connect.
  • Never shared — Your health data is never sent to our servers, shared with third parties, or used for advertising.
  • Processed locally — Health data is displayed only within the app on your device.
  • Optional — You can use FoodCop without connecting health data. You can disconnect at any time through your device settings.

4. Third-Party Services

FoodCop uses the following third-party services to operate:

Supabase (Database and Authentication)

We use Supabase for user authentication and data storage. Supabase stores your account information and meal history in secure, encrypted databases. Learn more at supabase.com/privacy.

OpenAI (GPT-4o Vision)

Food photos are sent to OpenAI's GPT-4o Vision API for analysis. Images are transmitted securely over HTTPS and are processed according to OpenAI's API data usage policies. As of our current agreement, images submitted via the API are not used to train OpenAI models and are not stored by OpenAI after processing. Learn more at openai.com/policies.

RevenueCat (Subscription Management)

We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and in-app purchases. RevenueCat processes subscription status and purchase receipts. It does not have access to your meal data or photos. Learn more at revenuecat.com/privacy.

5. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the food scanning and exercise planning service.
  • To track your meal history, streaks, and achievements.
  • To deliver personalized comedy content and exercise recommendations.
  • To manage your subscription and account.
  • To send you notifications you have opted into (meal reminders, weekly reports, streak nudges).
  • To improve the quality and accuracy of our service.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with third parties for advertising purposes. Your data is only shared with the third-party service providers listed in Section 4, solely for the purpose of operating the app.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Your account data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time through the app's Profile settings by tapping "Delete Account." When you delete your account:

  • All meal history is permanently deleted.
  • All achievements and statistics are permanently deleted.
  • Your user profile is permanently deleted.
  • Your authentication record is permanently deleted.
  • This action is irreversible.

Active subscriptions must be canceled separately through your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting your FoodCop account does not automatically cancel your subscription.

8. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication tokens, and access-controlled database policies (Row Level Security). However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

FoodCop is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@foodcop.app.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data (available via in-app account deletion).
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy within the app. Your continued use of FoodCop after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
